Another example of fifties advertising, a 2nd version of the "Remington Rand Shaver/Tune In Next Week/Stopette" combination. This version aired October 2nd 1955. These two commercials come from a program which I also uploaded in it's entirety.

Another curious example of 1950's advertising, in this case a promo for the UNIVAC computer, produced by Remington Rand. This commercial interestingly aired on the CBS Television Network on 5 February 1956, during a light panel show.

Another episode of the crime-drama "Martin Kane, Private Eye". In this episode, three sisters (one of which is criminally insane) create trouble after the victims body is shown to have been mutilated *after* the murder. (Note: contains original advertising. Daytime game show, usually regardless as one of the worst shows of the 1960s. Quite popular though. (if there's anything wrong with the file, please let me know. If there's nothing wrong with the file, please let me know). Daytime series always feature more advertising than prime-time series, and this features more advertising than most day-time!

Not exactly a commercial for Chevrolet trucks, and not exactly a plug for the trucking industry in general. A hybrid of the two (also: considering that most 1960s shows had less advertising than today, it's amazing how many commercials were produced in that era. There is a seemingly endless supply of commercials from that era).

Another average commercial. 3 networks (NET didn't have advertising, and DuMont ceased broadcasting in 1956) and if you were lucky an independent station. Prime-time shows had 3 to 4 minutes of commercials. Despite this, the sheer number of commercials that exist from the early 1960s is staggering. It truly amazes me.

A Classic 1950's Commercial for Post's Sugar Crisps. Cheap, but cute. DISCLAIMER: This video does not represent the quality of major Hollywood cartoons of the time. Nor does it represent the quality of major Tele-cartoons of the time ("Clutch Cargo" didn't air until several years after this commercial, so it doesn't count. Then again, "Clutch Cargo" was already crap by the standards of it's time). Heck, it stinks by the standards of most advertising cartoons of the time....

Another episode of "Martin Kane, Private Eye", a live crime drama from the early days of television. In this episode, a murder during a court hearing makes everyone unsure who supplied the weapon. Not a bad episode, though it does feature a couple of stereotypes, a few missed cues and some unusual camera angles. Though it features product placement for pipe tobacco, the amount of actual advertising is less than you'd assume.

An artistic masterpiece from the early 1950's, this episode of "Howdy Doody" comes from the 1st of April, 1952. As such, the episode starts with a practical joke which probably annoyed many people. This episode also contains lots of advertising for the sponsors, including Colgate Dental Cream and Kellogg's cereal. Song "Vaya con Dios". Pop music show aired in a 5-minute time-slot, more a greater percentage of the show taken up by advertising compared to other 1950s series. Show is public domain, but the music is still copyrighted, so be careful, and look both ways before crossing the street. As with all the episodes I've uploaded of this series, my usual DVD ripper wouldn't work with the disc (it created a very faulty file), so I had to use a different (and inferior) ripper.

An episode of "About Faces", an early 1960s game show. Tom Kennedy hosts this episode. Format is includes some aspects of 1950s series "Place the Face". Margaret O'Brien is the celebrity guest. While this episode is probably public domain, please note that it includes brief footage from two still-copyrighted series. Also, please note that, as this is a daytime series, it featured more advertising than a prime-time series of the same era, and also note that the final...

A commercial of such utmost mediocrity that I can't be bothered to mention the super-celebrity it features. This commercial lacks zing. Oh, and surely it is OK for me to upload it here? I uploaded it to my MattTheSaiyan YouTube account, and now I upload it here. Is that OK? I already uploaded the show it comes from, but for those who are studying advertising techniques, here it is by itself. But why bother? This commercial is as boring as fox news, though not quite as annoying. EDIT: OK, maybe...

This is from ''David, the Sleuth'', aired 18 November 1959, and came after the closing credits. The footage includes: A brief mention of the Ed Sullivan Show "airing on another network", a commercial for Kodak's personalised Christmas cards, a spot promoting a film with David Nelson and Jack Webb, a spot promoting Ricky Nelson's LP album "Songs By Ricky" (BTW, the album has since been digitally re-released, it's a wonderful album in my biased opinion), and a charmingly low...

Herbert Philbrick (Richard Carlson) is a man who lives three lives: average ordinary advertising man, Communist Activist, and FBI informant. In this episode, Philbrick tries to figure out how the Commies are getting information overseas. Season 1, Episode 7 Note: Episodes 1-23 of this series are Public Domain. The rest were renewed. It's popular to state that "I Led Three Lives" was the TV version of "I Was a Communist for the FBI" but it's not quite accurate. I was a...

A rare 1968 CBS Television Network special designed to promote the network's fall schedule. Shows promoted include: "Mayberry R.F.D.", "Lancer", "The Good Guys", "Blondie" and "Hawaii Five-O". Out of these, "Blondie" was the biggest failure (lasting 13 episodes), while "Hawaii Five-O" was the most successful (lasting 284 episodes). Please forgive the VHS-transfer. This Promo-Special is presented here for historical value....

Introducing the 1967 Dodge Dart GT, a sleek compact convertible. Amazing how sporty and cool this looked back in the '60s. Sadly, by the '70s just about everything cool from the '60s was revamped and ruined. In 1973 my parents bought a new Dart, and it was the most boring conservative car imaginable. Thank you, Chrysler motors. Pamela Austin, the perky spokesperson, was the "Dodge Rebellion Gal" in over a dozen television ads from 1966 and 1967. The campaign had a faint...

Another classic TV commercial, this time from 1958, and taken from the public domain TV-episode "Rick's Riding Lesson" (also to be found on this site). Interestingly, This brand of pancakes is still around today. Commercial features Harriet and Ozzie Nelson (filmed-commercial, broadcast 19 November 1958 over the ABC Television Network)
